Datuk Zuraida binti Kamaruddin was born on 14 March 1958 and received her early education at the Girl’s School in Tanjong Katong before pursuing her high school education at the reputable Raffles Institution in Singapore.

She is currently serving as Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri since August 2021. Previously, Zuraida has served as the Minister of Housing and Local Government under the former Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin since March 2020 and before that, she served in the Pakatan Harapan (PH) administration under the former Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad from May 2018 to PH's implosion in February 2020. Zuraida has also been the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ampang since March 2008. She has been a member of Malaysian United Indigenous Party (BERSATU), a component party of the ruling PN since February 2020 after her resignation from her previous political party, People's Justice Party (PKR)

Zuraida was both a champion debater and ardent sportswoman, playing softball at the international level during her schooldays. Prior to entering politics, she was working in the advertising and insurance industry in Malaysia and overseas. This stint in the corporate world laid the foundation for her career in politics.

Her assertive voice has been a fixture of Malaysian politics for almost two decades. Since day one of her political career, she has been one of the most prominent women leaders in Malaysia and the region.
